Song Story - Back in the Shed

**Song Story** - I wrote Back in the Shed, on my new album Lost City, as an homage to the gnarly jazz-funk composition skills of Jeff Rhoades. He used to write these curmudgeonly twisted totally danceable instrumental tunes for our old band, and I always admired them. Check out "Gutter Noise" & "My Foot's Asleep" on Tonic & Gin by The Woodshed for some prime examples.

In 2016 I decided to take a crack at this janky songwriting style and after a few attempts I ended up with Back in the Shed. When Pete and I got into the studio for Lost City this song became a fast favorite. We tracked it 5 or 6 times, each take getting a little further out there. We ended up using the last one - a studio jam that broke out into totally new territory for the song. I love Jeff's old funk tunes and I hope mine recalls at least a little of the GNARL of The Woodshed's glory days in 06-07 πŸŽΆπŸŽΉπŸ€˜
