Hi – welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
I’ve been thinking a lot about attention. Here in 2026 it feels hard to pay attention to anything in a satisfying way. I don’t know if I’m just getting old, or if the world has fundamentally shifted. I find myself nostalgic for an older version of the internet. Specifically, the internet before the algorithmization of everything. The internet when it had more people than bots.
Nostalgia is a dangerous emotion. It’s always a little too rosy, and it’s a mirage that can become a deadly trap if you believe it too much. Was the world really better back in the day?
Anyway, that feeling has led me to pull way back from social media and to look for more focus in things like writing here (where it’s unlikely much of anyone will ever see it). There’s no algorithmic boost, no comments, no firehose of content. I just want to get some thoughts down.
When things are really clicking I write a lot of music. It comes in waves and when it’s been dormant for a while I start looking for ways to prime the pump. I think that’s part of my motivation here.
I haven’t been working on a lot of music. I have young kids and a lot of “life stuff” that takes most of my time. I think a little more focused effort — a little more attention — is in order. I hope you can find some of that space in your life too. If you’re here, I’m glad and grateful. I hope I’ll have more to share with you soon.
Thanks for your time and attention.
